Product Description
Polyethylene glycol is a polymer which is hydrolyzed by ethylene oxide. It has no toxicity and irritation. It is widely used in various pharmaceutical preparations. The toxicity of low molecular weight polyethylene glycol is relatively large. In general, the toxicity of diols is very low. Topical application of polyethylene glycol, especially mucosal drug, can cause irritant pain. In topical lotion, this product can increase the flexibility of the skin, and has a similar moisturizing effect with glycerin. Diarrhoea can occur in large doses of oral administration. In injection, the maximum polyethylene glycol 300 concentration is about 30% (V/V). Hemolysis could occur when the concentration is more than 40% (V/V).

Uses
Polyethylene glycol products are used in pharmaceuticals. Lower molecular weight PEGs are used as solvents, co-solvents, o/w emulsifiers, and stabilizers for making cement suspensions, emulsions, injections, etc. They are also used as water-soluble ointment bases and suppository matrices. Higher molecular weight solid wax-like PEGs are commonly used to increase the viscosity and solidify lower molecular weight liquid PEGs, and as carriers for other drugs. For poorly soluble drugs in water, PEGs can be used as carriers for solid dispersants to achieve solid dispersion. PEG-4000 and PEG-6000 are good coating materials, hydrophilic polishing materials, membrane materials, capsule materials, plasticizers, lubricants, and droplet matrices used in the preparation of tablets, pellets, capsules, microcapsules, etc.
PEG-4000 and PEG-6000 are used in the pharmaceutical industry as binders for the preparation of suppositories and ointments; in the paper industry as coating agents to increase paper gloss and smoothness; and in the rubber industry as additives to increase the lubricity and plasticity of rubber products, reduce power consumption during processing, and extend the service life of rubber products.
Polyethylene glycol products are used as raw materials for ester-type surfactants.

- PEG-400, PEG-600, PEG-800: Used as matrices for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, lubricants and wetting agents in rubber and textile industries. PEG-600 added to electrolytes in the metal industry enhances polishing effects and enhances the gloss of metal surfaces.
- PEG-1000, PEG-1500: Used as matrices or lubricants and softeners in pharmaceuticals, textiles, and cosmetics industries; used as dispersants in the coating industry; improve the water dispersibility and flexibility of resins, with usage of 20~30%; in inks can enhance the solubility of dyes, reduce their volatility, especially suitable for wax paper and printing ink, can also be used in ballpoint pen ink as a viscosity regulator; used as a dispersant in the rubber industry to promote vulcanization, used as a dispersant for carbon black filler.
- PEG-2000, PEG-3000: Used as metal processing die casting mold agent, metal wire drawing, stamping or forming lubricant and cutting fluid, grinding cooling lubrication polishing agent, welding flux, etc.; in papermaking industry used as lubricants, etc., also used as hot melt adhesive, to increase rapid re-wetting ability.
- PEG-4000, PEG-6000 used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic industry production as a matrix, adjust the viscosity, melting point role; in the rubber, metal processing industry used as lubricants, coolants, in pesticides, pigment industry production as dispersants, emulsifiers; in the textile industry used as antistatic agents, lubricants, etc.. PEG-6000 in the metal industry added to the electrolyte can enhance the grinding effect, enhance the gloss of the metal surface.
- PEG8000 is used as a matrix in the production of medicine and cosmetics to adjust viscosity and melting point; it is used as a lubricant and coolant in the rubber and metal processing industries, as a dispersant and emulsifier in the production of pesticides and pigments; it is used as an antistatic agent, lubricant, etc. in the textile industry.
Packaging and Storage
PEG200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500 are packaged in 200kg iron barrels or 50kg plastic barrels; PEG2000, 3000, 4000, 6000, 8000 are packaged in 20Kg woven bags after slicing.
